Postdoctoral researcher position / REDEMOS project / University of St.Gallen

In the context of the Horizon Europe project "REDEMOS: REconfiguring EU DEMOcracy Support –Towards a sustained demos in the EU's Eastern Neighbourhood", the Institute of Political Science at the University of St. Gallen invites applications for a PhD Position in the research group of Professor Tina Freyburg. The aim is to develop a new concept for democracy collaboration, in which the conditions of national democracy development are more strongly integrated into the approaches of European democracy promotion. In St.Gallen, we primarily study the images associated with EU democracy promotion prevalent within the European Commission and among its Eastern partners and explore how they shape the policy actions of policy agents in both EU institutions and Eastern partnership countries.

Your tasks

  • Development and conduct of own postdoctoral research in the framework of the REDEMOS Project

  • Contribution to the effective implementation of the St.Gallen part of the REDEMOS Project, including refinement of theoretical argument; data collection and statistical analyses; development of software application; creation of innovative dissemination activities.

Your profile

  • PhD degree in political science or a related social science discipline (you may apply with a nearly completed degree)

  • Motivation to pursue academic career and interest in theory-driven empirical research

  • Advanced knowledge of quantitative research methods and experience in writing R packages

  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
