Five year postdoc position in Political Psychology / Political Behaviour

At the Institute for Socio-Economics, University of Duisburg-Essen, we currently look for a postdoc to support the interdisciplinary research project “The influence of socio-economic problems on political integration” (PI: Paul Marx). In particular, the postdoc will support two sub-projects dealing with psychological mechanisms mediating the effect of socio-economic problems (poverty, unemployment, insecurity) on political participation. The position is full-time and has a duration of almost five years (depending on exact start of employment).
 
Your task

Contributing to the interdisciplinary research project “The influence of socio-economic problems on political integration”

Theoretical and empirical research on the psychological mechanisms through which socio-economic problems (poverty, unemployment, material insecurity) influence political participation and preferences

Conducting experiments and panel-data analyses
 
Your profile

  • Phd degree (at the time position starts) in a field that is relevant for the project (such as Psychology, Political Behaviour, Behavioural Economics).
  • Solid knowledge of statistical methods
  • Experience with experimental methods
  • Clear and effective communication in English
  • Additional experiences with collecting survey data and with qualitative methods are an advantage

 
Start of the position: flexible
 
Duration of the contract: 30 November 2022
 
Working time: full-time
